Library

The reference library of the Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre has a collection of 3 thousand books, 150 CDs and a large number of periodicals that give a good cross-section of the cultural, political and scientific life of Hungary.

The collection of Hungarian literature in Hungarian and in English language is a base for Indian translators, mostly in Hindi language. Copies of translated works into Indian languages are treasures of the Centre's collection.

A sizeable number of volumes trace back the results of the 200 years old Indo-Hungarian cultural relations, describing the works and activities of such outstanding scholars like Alexander Csoma de Kőrös, Ervin Baktay, Sir Aurél Stein, Charles Fábri, the art of Amrita Sher-Gil, Elizabeth Sass Brunner and Elizabeth Brunner, and also include the scholarly works and translations of contemporary Indologists like Géza Bethlenfalvy, Imre Bangha, Mária Négyesi, Tibor Körtvélyesi, Csaba Dezső and so on.

The informative, monthly lectures of Petőfi Book Club, closely associated with the Library activities, also promote Hungary's culture, making it possible for a larger audience to know more about Hungary.
